New livelihood

New livelihood

Since 2012 we have been supporting 12 families of the indigenous people of Rwanda, the Batwa, who used to live as hunters and gatherers. These families live and work as a cooperative. We support them with materials for agriculture and provide them with the necessary expertise with an agricultural economist. People need constant encouragement and motivation in order not to fall into lethargy about their situation. But we are not letting up and are continuing to work on helping people to help them being able to care of themselves.

In order to guarantee that their harvest will last for some time in the future, we built a warehouse in 2021 in which they can safely prepare the harvest, not threaten by theft and pests and thus have something to eat all year.
In order to be able to support them in their difficult situation as best as possible, a social worker has recently started taking care of the people involved. In this way they should develop their own visions and goals in the future and develop as a community.
