Vocational Training for Young Women
Rwaza Tailoring
Our training center in Rwaza opened in 2015. Since then, approximately 35 schoolgirls from impoverished families have been trained each year in a sewing workshop free of charge. English as a foreign language, communication and business management are additional subjects taught in addition to sewing. After one year of training, the students complete a two-month internship. This training has been state-approved and certified since 2023.
More than 270 young women and girls have already completed the training. 85% of the graduates have been able to start their professional careers.
Rwaza Handcraft
In addition to tailoring, Rwaza also offers training in handicrafts. Each year, 30 girls and young women are given the opportunity to complete this training and supplement their family income. So far, 250 girls and young women have taken advantage of this opportunity.
To date, more than 500 women have successfully completed training at Wraza. After completing their training, they can join the newly formed Alumni Association. This allows them to stay informed and build a professional network.
Visitors coming to our RWAZA VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE have the opportunity to purchase tablecloths, handbags, woven baskets and bowls, sandals and much more
